Texas Marine Inland Services, LLC (TMIS) is owned by Captain Loyd Thornton, and specializes in providing shallow water marine transportation and technical services to pipeline companies in the Texas-Louisiana areas and beyond with amphibious airboats, shallow draft work boats, shallow draft rapid response barges, and tracked amphibious vehicles.

Loyd Thornton founded and was sole owner of Alpha Leak Detection and Pipeline Services from 1985 until he sold the business in 2001. He then started to consult in the inland marine side of the pipeline business and formed Texas Marine Inland Services, LLC. He brings 36 years of pipeline integrity experience specializing in D.O.T. regulated pipelines and has mainly dealt with integrity issues. Captain Thornton has designed and built underwater pipeline locators for divers in order to perform depth of cover surveys for pipelines crossing inland waterways.

TMIS has provided marine transportation surveys and have successfully completed projects for companies such as Kinder Morgan Pipeline, Enterprise Pipeline, Plains Pipeline and has an ongoing business relationship with ExxonMobil Pipeline for 25 years. One of the most recent projects for ExxonMobil was a Direct Assessment Integrity Survey which involved a Close Interval Cathodic Survey, a DCVG Survey, and a Depth-of-Cover Survey which was performed on 8.5 miles of pipeline crossing several marshes and two rivers near Port Arthur, Texas. We at TMIS provided all of the marine transportation and electronic services along with Depth-of-Cover Survey for this project.

TMIS business philosophy is to provide customers with a high degree of quality service and equipment at a fair price, with safety as a primary focus. We conduct a Job Safety Analysis for every project, everyday to help insure that all personnel not only performs their work safely, but also they know the work steps and work goals for each day. TMIS carries a million dollar liability insurance policy on all airboats and shallow draft workboats. Captain Thornton's marine credentials include a United States Coast Guard Masters Captains License that has maintained for the last 21 years.
